Help with this photo please

Dear all, can you help? Recently took this picture whilst on holiday in Bude. I really like it but below middle there are some green and red glares which i'm desperate to remove but don't know how? Bought PS elements 12 today but struggling to work that out - how can I remove the glares? Thanks, Dave.

Just a quick and dirty copy, I left the main flare in just below the reflection of the sun, and used the clone tool to take out the others, with the flow set low so that you don't get repeating patterns making it look obvious what I did. This took me 2 minutes, with more time I could make a more convincing job of it. I also straightened the horizon and gave it a touch of sharpening. Let me know if you want it taken down as I see you've got editing not allowed but it is the best way of explaining what I did.

Wow, thanks Mark, that looks much better, thank you. Sorry matey but I'm not sure what you mean by taken down but if that's a good thing then yes please?? I think tomorrow's all about learning PS elements

I think that is a touch harsh, from the sounds of it the OP is reasonably new to photography, he asked how to remove the flare, not for criticism of his shot.

I think he means that in your forum options you have "edit my photos" as not allowed.

clone or heal, not sure if elements has content aware but that would probably do it as would the patch tool. I'd probably try content aware or patch tool first if you have them. Not a big job.

Getting rid of most lens flare is quite simple so long as they're not over people's faces etc.

Here's what I did.


select 1440 or 1080P to see details.

To select the dropper tool while in Paintbrush... press "alt"
