Im trying to get as close to the moody almost HDR style as i can, as really like it but best i can do is this

Ockendon church front view modified 1-1 by harrylessman, on Flickr

ive been using the tone curves lights darks shadows etc and have been trying for hours and my curve is almost identical to the first pic but clearly still very different , any advice on how to improve on it, im new to PP so there could be tools in lightroom that im not using?

also how do i get the edit info, tone curve and histogram etc from lightroom on to the forum. is there some way of saving it as a picture then upload it to here?

Try using the recovery slider to pull back some detail in the sky. You could also try using the Grad tool or the local adjustment tool to put some density into that area as well. Try adding some fill light to lighten the mid tones and bring detail into the doorway. I'd also try using the lights slider to brighten up the image a bit and give it some punch

Finally and only if it needs it use the darks slider to give the shadow areas some impact.

Remember that one adjustment may have an effect on those you have already made so be prepared to go back and modify these earlier adjustments if necessary.

For a sort of hdr look in lightroom try the following
recovery well up
fill light well up
clarity well up
ajust the blacks to suit.
Theres something going on with the sky in the top photo, some banding and I'm guessing somethings been cloned out?

Hi thanks

yes there were some power cables in the shot that are cloned out and ive cloned in some sky..

ive had a good play and as had been suggested i turned the recovery right up, the main thing ive found that has got me closer to what im after is the shapening tools, seem over sharpen a bit and crank the detail slide right up and adjust the masking to suit.

i have set it to

Amount 150
Radius 2
Detail 100
masking 40

think ill have a further play with the shadows and darks to try to get some more shading in the grass, but im fairly happy with this but im no expert and just starting out with PP.

had a further twiddle and think ive improved the sky, just the tree lets it down a bit but cant seem to lighten it without effecting the rest..
