I'm very much a novice & have little photo technical knowledge & also no experience at all with Photoshop but have some shots that I've been asked to save at Photoshop level 10 or 12. I've opened my 5yr old P'shop Limited Edit.(for the 1st time!) at the Help section to research my question but it has a conflict with Windows Vista. The file Windows suggested would fix the prob didn't - but I'll look at that later! Could someone in a few words explain what saving at level 10 or 12 is & how it's done? Oh, & because I feel a bit of a nut asking this I've applied on line for at a local 'tec for digi photo' course!

This would, I guess, be in the 'JPEG Options' window. It is the setting for the amount of compression to be applied to the file when saving. This window comes up just after the one where you choose the location to save to (on my version of PS at least).

They said there were some nice people out there! Thanks for the suggestion. Think I'm going to have to do two things, upgrade my PS to a newer version & get my head round using it! However, just nipped next door ( interrupted their steak dinner!) & checked it out using their PS & it looks like you're spot on. Thanks again.

Photoshop LE is pretty ancient now, it used to be bundled free with scanners. It was replaced by Photoshop Elements some time back, that would be the obvious replacement. You'll find JPEG level 12 is maximum quality.
