help with proccesing

how do you guys start to process a picture ive got dpp and microsoft digital imaging do i sharped etc with dpp then crop an resize with Microsoft digital imaging are can i do everything with d p p and also how do you sharpen or change just one part of a picture (one area)

You can do most of your processing in DPP, even crop the image. Resizing will have to be done by another programme as i don't think DPP can do this. There are free resize progs out there but i would try The GIMP as it's free and does alot of what Photoshop does. Also you will need layers to sharpen a certain area which Gimp can do.

I have no idea what Microsoft digital imaging can do as i have never seen it.

I dont know if this is the correct way but mostly i adjust white balance, exposure, curves, hue/saturation, contrast and then sharpen (not always all of those, but in that order) ........then i put on motion blur and stain glass effects.....

Resize is always last and crop depends on the image and if its important for me to see the composition whilst i'm fiddeling.

I would also like to know the most effective and least destructive order, if there is one.
