help with printing digital images

Hi guys,

Im hoping someone will give me the answer to this simple problem that I cant get my head around :bang:

How to save a digital image so that it can be printed any size...

I have saved the images as JPEG and TIF and they look fine on screen, then when i print them the edges r cut off so im guessing the scaling is wrong, and i have to do something to the dpi?

By your description of "edges cutting off" and "size" theres some confusion as to what your trying to acheive..

You can't save a picture that will print at 7x5 and 6x4 as they are different aspect ratios.. follow that to other sizes and one saved picture cannot print to all sizes.. You have to either save a picture that has lots of bleed (room to crop) and then crop accordingly for all sizes.. or choose an aspect ratio..

I crop all my pictures 7x5 i can then also print a4, a3, a2 and the like..

some prefer 6x4.... theres 9x6 and 10x8 all populor sizes before we get to posters..


So one saved file cant print them all I am afraid ..

I see, i have saved them 6x4.
What size would you suggest to save them as if i was saving some ones wedding photos, in case they want enlargements?
 
what about keeping them as they are out of the camera size wise then if they want something specific you can just crop to that size for printing or the correct ratio so they can be enlarged to the size they want
