Hi all
I have just got Elements 10. I am a complete newbie with editing software. For the last few hours I have been trying to remove the leaves overhanging the boats with not much luck. Any hints tips or ideas please

Many thanks

Nothing like starting with the easy stuff :D

That's a pretty tricky edit you have there. A good start would be to post a bigger version - say 1MB minimum - so the critical bits can be enlarged to a size that can be worked on. Mostly, I'd be using the clone stamp to move bits of gunwale and strake from of one of the un-obscured boats, same process with the jetty planking. Getting a natural looking finish would take a while. It can be done, but not quickly (or not for me anyway).

I'll delete this when you've seen it Gary.
Like Jon says, it'll take a good while to take all the overhang out, but maybe you could just try trimming it back a bit?

Thanks very much. I can't see the picture as I am at work so will have a look when I get home.

Any good?

Mainly done with the clone stamp.

I copied a section of the wall and pasted it onto a couple of seperate layers to create the extension at the back where the steps should be.

:)

The above is excellent Paul  How did you do that :'( Could you tell me please how you did the front of the boat. Also do you give lessons :)
Thanks
Gary

Thanks Gary :)

It was all done by cloning apart from the wall extension, which I did by duplicating a section of wall onto a couple of layers and moving them into place. They needed a bit of resizing and rotating. Then I tidied up the joins, again by cloning. The secret with successful cloning is to always zoom in big and take your time. You usually end up with some very obvious repeat patterning so you need to go over the finished photo again to give it a final tidy up.

Hope that helps :)

Thanks new2me another excellent job. Could you tell how you did it please. I need all the help I can get.
Thanks again
Gary

I just cloned out the little areas that I edited and used the smudge tool to draw back in the boat areas and added a little noise where it was too smooth
