My parents have recently returned from holiday, along with my dad's 350D and a whole bunch of photos.

Unfortunately my dad left the camera in a mode whereby it saved all the images in black and white - and some dramatic sunsets could really do with a spot of colouring. Obviously he wasn't working in RAW, so I've only got the JPGs to work with.

Can anyone suggest a way of putting some colour back in to these shots? I'm waiting for him to email a couple across to me. I've got CS2 if that's of any use to me!

Thanks in advance.

Manually draw the colour in. I think thats the only thing you can do if they're jpg's.

i could send you photoshop if that is a help

you will have to ask the others if its helpful

I'll have a copy of photoshop if you're offering photomad, really generous of you, it costs £100's to buy, so if you're giving it away for free I'll take one :D

Sorry about the pics Mark, just a pain in the backside isn't it, I left my camera in jpg for the last job I did, realised when I got home, exposure was okay for the most part though so no harm done on that occasion.

Copying software is illegal and its not welcomed on these forums.

I thought you meant you were giving away an original boxed copy.

Well I offer a service where I hand colour old mono pics as part of the restoration. It's usually portraits and not all of them lend themselves to the process - a lot depends on the lightness or darkness of the image and I've found that lighter images take the hand colouring better.

My gut reaction with hand colouring landscape shots is don't even think about it - I can't imagine them looking natural for one moment. By all means have a go, but I'd try to make the most of the mono shots you have.

Back on topic - I didnt even know that the 350D had a black and white mode :o Seems there is, on a menu I have never been in. Painting them by hand could be fun :p but maybe a bit of a pain.

Bad luck with that one.

give this a look at you can get a 10 day trial version, I havent used it myself but I have used some of their other software and it was very good.

ok im bad

wont do it again

after all you could be fbi

the Feds are nothing but you wouldn't want FACT after you (Federation Against Copyright Theft), Ive seen them in action and they dont mess around

Just having a laugh...dont worry

you have me scared now

ive asked ct to remove my threads

you put the frightners on me

You have nothing to worry about.

Some people take a dim view to illegal copying and rightly so.

Promise not to do it again and we shall forget about it. :D

LOL. Potentially incriminating bits removed. ;)
