been turning out some things with my grandma today and found this!!! its amazing, there are pictures of hitler and venice and a flood and loads of bits but what is it and does anyone know where its come from??? is it just some generic thing bought from a shop or is this something someone in my family has taken, i would say there was about 25-30 small negs in this viewer

It looks like a negative viewer.

nah its just got like a little magnifying glass bit and you hold it up to the light to look at the negs, but i wondered if anyone has seen one before and knows if the negs are something my family would have taken or if its just something from a show showing war images?!?!?

I used to be into 8mm film and had one similar, but smaller for viewing the film.

LOL. Pictures/negatives of Hitler and everyone ignores it.

Wouldn't go by comments here. Try get it checked out somewhere. Could be a very interesting find.

lol i know!!!! i couldnt believe it when i found it!!! i was soo shocked, there is like a view across to some snowcapped mountains with the nazi flags in the foreground too. any suggestions as to where i could take it???

Possibly a local museum? See if a historian can verify if they are originals?

Cor - it is like the finds you read about in the papers!

Well, not being able to see said pictures (negatives) or knowing about family history etc, AND asking 'what is THIS' we can only comment on the object! So deffinately NOT ignoring them!

Might want to google. I've found:

and

Could be worth giving them a call and explaining what you have. See if they can help or suggest something. I'm sure any mention of Hitler woud tweek their interest.

Would be a disappointment though if it turned out to be Freddie Star.

onikami, you're probably too young to know but long time back Freddie Star was an entertainer who did an uncannily accurate impersonation of Hitler.

I know he eat a hamster ;)

I never knew he did Hitler impressions.

You could scan the negatives and search for them on www.tineye.com
If they were widely produced and sold you might find someone else with some the same. It would be quite a find if they were taken by a relative though :)

Scan the negs and let us have a look!

May not be a good idea! If they are worth something, and they get into the public domain!!

Anyone got a Canon 70-200mm f4 l to sell?

TBH, I suspect their historical value may be limited if they're of the Führer passing by in his car at a parade or some other public appearance.

If they're more candid shots of him in private (at Berchtesgarten for example) then they're going to be of more interest, but that might suggest something about your grandmother that you didn't really want to know... she was visiting both Germany and Italy in the 1930s? :suspect: :D

Ah, she was an undercover agent for the forces of democracy.

lol well as she is only 66 i doubt it was her travelling but i have relatives further back that i know were involved in the war!!

i cant wait to find out more about this now!!! thank you sooo much guys and i will keep you posted as what it turns out to be!!!!

If the images are original, it could be very interesting. And it should be easy to tell if they're copies or not.

Get them checked out properly, eg museum who should be able to verify or point you in the best direction.

If anyone offers to buy them, say no.

anyone know what happened or have the lastest on this?
