Today I found a little white/cream spider crawling around inside my lens! Not a clue how it's got in there as my lens are always sealed... where can I get this problem sorted? I'm in Doncaster, South Yorkshire

The lens are always sealed with lens caps in there not on my camera body, and a 55-200mm NIKKOR

I think a zoom lens has a small hole in it which allows it to zoom which is probably how it got in.

Does it appear when taking photographs?

In photos? No, but I don't want it to cause damage to the lens with web etc :( I noticed it yesterday when I was putting my lens cap on, it was crawling around and then disappeared

You r not alone, I posted a couple of days ago as I have 5 bugs crawling around in mine. It seems to be down to 3, 2 got out. As suggested to me leave both lens caps off and leave facing a light, hopefully if it got in it can get out. I am pretty freaked by it to. I think mine got in as eggs by the zoom ring.

I once got a bug in my monitor - thought it was a dead pixel on the lcd. It eventually died and dropped to the bottom.

I've had various bugs at various times in my computer monitors but never, so far anyway, in any camera equipment. My problem dissappeared over time (same way out I assume) but I really wouldn't know where to start with a lens. I'd call Nikon as explain the problem and hope they give you an answer.

Been to Jessops and they've said that it shouldn't do any damage as it will most likely die by then, but if it's female and lays eggs, I need to bring it back in to have it stripped down and cleaned

How much do they charge for that? that's what i am worrying with mine, plus bug poo!

I really wouldn't worry about it if I was you, as long as it doesn't affect the photographs as it shouldn't. Really annoying though! Especially if you hate spiders.

Also I think Jessops charges quite high prices, not too sure though but might be worth visiting your local camera 'experts' for quotes if you do want it stripped down.
