I am struggling trying to save my images for lab print at a particular size.
Here is a step by step to the system I use.
I shoot with a !DS MK 3 (lucky me) and all my wokflow is done in lightroom 2.2

I save all images to an external hard drive to one folder called photos then to subfolder raw images and the name of shoot, ( I have already made up a backup to disc and filed away) from here I import to lightroom, then i sort out the keepers from the others which i simply delete from the folder, then I make a samart collection, and go to the develope module I crop to size (get rid of unwanted background etc, then post proccess the image in ful.

Once I have done this I go back to the library module from here i go to export ( not Print as my printer can not handle the size and only prints a4)
I ave alreay done my standard presets that get tagged to the image.

I then save at 300ppi (pixels per inch) then you tick the resize to fit and enter the size you want in my case I want 39cm wide by 29cm long.
Remember i have taken the image at 21mega pixels so this size is not a problem.

Here is the problem it does not save it as this size, it saved it as 461x 307. I export back to the same folder in my external drive but under subfolder lightroom export jpg then subfolder with the name ad date of the shoot.

I have CS3 but seldom go near it as lightroom is such a wonderfull tool and up till now did all i need.

If someone can help I would appreciate a step by step guide so as to make it easy to understand.

Thanks for taking the time to read this fairly long post.

Regards Steve

Probably not much help, but I just tried saving one of my shots through Lightroom to the size you need and it did the job as asked.

I saved at 300ppi and set the longest side to 39cm, no mention of the other dimension.

Hi In Cs3 open image
go to image menu and choose image size.
adjust to size you want set your resolution then click OK.
Save your file and that should do the trick.:)

What units are the 461x 307?

Have you cropped the image to the correct aspect ratio before exporting? I find that it is best to use either a virtual copy, or a snapshot, for any different aspect ratio that I crop to for printing.

The step by step would be:

Import
-> Develop module
Crop to remove unwanted background (I would lock to the original aspect ratio for this)
Adjust as needed
Create snapshot (I would call original aspect ratio) or a create a virtual copy and select it.
Crop at 39x29 ratio, if you didn't create a virtual copy, I'd make another snapshot now, called 39x29 aspect ratio.
-> Back to Library module
Export, the setting should look like:
LRExport.png

Hope that helps.
