Hi

I'm after some help with this image,
1.
DSCF1066.jpg
[/IMG]

I took it using my Fuji S700 but messed up with the exposure :cuckoo:
It was taken in early Jan in the middle of the big freeze, we were so cold after the parade, all the pictures were rushed

I've palyed with it myself but am getting nowhere fast

I've got PS Elements 4 & have just got CS5, but have no experience with it.

Any advice, would someone like to have a play for me?

Mick

I'm not very experienced in PP, but the first thing that jumps to mind is "Did you shoot RAW?"

Do you have any other shots of them, if so you could swap heads easily enough, they dont have to be together but have similar lighting to this shot

Only indoor ones, I have about 10 different group shots all of similar exposure.

It's so annoying, but it was so cold & I never checked until it was too late :cuckoo:

Maybe the indoor ones would do if the exposure on those are alright, bit of PP youd never know

Just been looking through them mate, they are all off-centre, no hats etc.

Not sure I'd be able to do anything with them.

Main question is, is there too much over-exposure to fix?

Most DSLR's you should be able to pull back a stop, maybe a stop and a bit. Then there's the B&W option

Run it through Lightroom, see what it makes of it. I think you might be goosed on face value though

Had a very very quick play with it, but it's not much better I'm afraid.

Nobody is going to get much better as the detail is lost. If you had shot RAW (if your camera has this option) then you can often get some detail back but if it isn't there then there is nothing you can do at all.

Its not gonna be a 5 min job, but you will get it back quite well by cheating

just find any face in a similar profile, and use the shadow detail in the chin and ears to bring back the detail.

I google for 30 secs to find a face, im sure if you spend longer you will find better lol
But just to show you on your way with it...

here is the face i used ... pretty poor lol. also sepia mono from 300 yrs ago :)

Here is a photoshop screengrab. A bit of masking and blending, just use a new face to get the shadows back. probably best to find a different face for each subject, and matches as close as possible.

just read above you have indoor shots of them, you could use them with the above tehcnique, im sure they will look better than nothing.
