I am trying to recreate an effect i have seen around by a few people, but i am not to sure how to acheive it.

That is the effect i want to achieve on the link above.

Anyone have any ideas, i seams like the saturation is brought down but the colours still remain in the key points.

If anyone has any tips or links to tutorials to get this it would much appreciated.

What software are you using?

In ACR speak, that looks to me like saturation is down but Vibrance is up (or vice versa), maybe the temperature has been messed with, and blacks a bit higher than normal.
 
It looks to me like a slight cross processed look. Have a look here for some great photoshop actions. If ure not using photoshop I'm sure there are similar alternatives for whatever app you use.
