Hey!
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, after a levels layer, I have created a new layer and in the layers list the new layer looks transparent, when I go to, let's say adjust sharpness for example, a warning message came up saying "could not complete adjust sharpness command because no pixels are selected".
Why is this? How do I create a new layer and be able to edit stuff?
Newish to ps.
Thanks in advance
Marco

A new layer is just that, a blank new layer, you need to have a duplicate layer (or at least a layer with something on) to be able to sharpen it.
I don't use Elements but in the full version if you click on the top layer (to make it active) then CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+E it makes a composite layer from all the layers and places it at the top of the stack, I'd then sharpen that.
To make a duplicate layer it's CTRL+J

Thanks for the reply? So do I basically have to merge all then edit it?
I tried duplicating a layer but it does something weird, for example I adjust the levels then go to duplicate layer, when it's duplicate the layer it's almost like its duplicated the levels again so it changes what I've edited.

I don't know PSE8 but will ask anyway. Are you editing the layer directly or putting in an extra levels layer and adjusting that as it affects everything below it unless you can clip it to the layer you are adjusting

Top Blank layer - no pixels and uneditable except for things like painting, copying etc
Levels layer - will affect everything below it unless clipped to the layer below
Duplicate layer
Bottom Original layer

Or so we can try and see what you are doing , click the print screen (PrntScr) button on your computer, make a new file in Elements and then paste the screen into it, crop down so it fits TPs size rules and put it on here ?
