hi there i use to do photography but circumstances stopped me i am tryin to get back into it but i need a camera i was thinking of the fuji s100fs or a canon could anyone advise me plz i would really appreciate it thankq :)

Hi, how much are you looking at spending, and what do you want to do with it?!

Chris

lol at chris but he is right take pics :naughty: i have around £400 at the mo i have no paticular subjects i just love taking pics hope this helps

Definitely with Chris Clark on this one. I've recently got back into photography and I know now that I wouldn't have been happy with a bridge. Go for a DSLR and you'll never look back - IMHO.

For £400 I would go for the Canon 1000D. Its a great first DSLR, I have to admit I have never had one but I have had a play with one and its a really nice camera.

If your after going down Nikon line then the Nikon D60 is still for sale at the moment. There selling around £370.

Second Hand wise you could be going for a Canon 30D for about £300. This is a lower end of semi pro but you will get 8 mega pixels and 5.5 fps.

Many people will tell you that Sony make great cameras but im not a fan of there new models, I think they look ugly to be honest. Although there higher end DSLRs are pretty nice. But there around £600 and that's above budget.

Both the Canon 1000D and Nikon D60 are for sale at Argos and ill give you the links below:

Canon 1000D

Nikon D60

As said Chris as said, I would stay away from bridge cameras, I bought one instead of a DSLR for my first camera, and for the money you are wanting to pay then you may as well get an DSLR.

Hope that helped :) It helped me

Call me Chris ;) To explain my view a little, a bridge is a 'one size fits all'. Their very capable cameras, and can be used to great effect. However, for me I'd like to have an adaptable tool, knowing that I can use a dedicated wide angle for landscapes, and a longer lens for portraits, and a dedicated long reach lens for wildlife and sports. I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with bridge cameras, nor am I saying that there's anything wrong with people who use bridges  but for me a DSLR body makes more sense.

Andy, I went for he Oly E-420 as my first (dSLR) and as you can see I'm now on a Nikon. Obviously a little biased so I'd go for a Nikon, but that's only because I like the Nikon. If £400 is the absolute max then I'd go for the Canon, mostly because Olympus glass is pricey, accessories are few and far between, and it's a very small sensor. So I'm with you on the 1000d, but only if Shell can stretch for the Nikon then I'd go for it

thankyou ****** your posts have been great use to me i have a canon dslr before so i am going to go for one again but if i can save a little more i will go for the nikon and thankyou for the links and all your support
