Help!!! Patient NAS drive/Network expert required!!

Tbh I missed your comment about disabling it!

Try disabling ipv6

Tried disabling ipv6 , my MyBook Worlds (both of them) are still killed by Windows 8.

To be honest, I only tried this out once - resurrecting the NASes from the state Win 8 leaves them in takes a couple of hours and I simply don't have the strength to repeat the exercise.

Only Windows 8 kills the NASes - they work fine with Windows 7, Android ICS, MacOsX. I'm tending to the opinion of the OP regarding Win 8s's networking abilities.

I've not heard many positive things about win8. I'd go back to 7 and wait for the first service pack to come out for 8 then give it another go.

There's nothing worse than networked devices working for a while, disappearing then returning as if nothing had happened!

Get a mac :)

I was anti mac until we got one, now we have 9 and am phasing out the last 4 pc's.

Not 1 problem in 3 years, couldn't say that about the pc's

Well, was a stupid trolling post.. :D

Shall we talk about all of the networking issues introduced in lion and mountain lion.. ;)

What networking issues? I've had no bother with lion.

Are there firmware updates for the nas available?

Good suggestion - that was the first things I tried. I also reset everything to factory defaults and then reinstalled Win8 as a clean install. So, I think what I have is everything in default config - and Win8pro persists in killing my Nases.

@studi0488 I used to enjoy watching my brothers struggle and fail to get OsX networking to behave, looks like it's pay back time!

It's called humour..... Why is every post on here that doesn't suit some people immediately become a troll post.:bonk:

Without emoticon support (which was lacking in your original post) no one can tell if it is a straight statement or sarcasm ;)
