Easy Redsnapper and Giotto's are both excellent monopods and will easy hold your camera/lens set-up.

Cheers Brian, have been looking at the Giotto ones as well as the manfrotto. wanting something quite light but still strong?

I'm using the Manfrotto MN676B monopod - well-made, light and steady; it has 4 sections, if that is a consideration.

.... Should have said - I use it with a 40D and 100-400L.

cheers Mike that was one of the manfrotto monopods i have been looking at. also looked at the Easy Redsnapper which does look a very nice and sturdy light monopod.

Thanks again for the help guys

I mainly do motorsport and have just changed from manfrotto to Redsnapper and well worthwhile, the quality is equally or if not better than manfrotto but cheaper, i would also like to add that that customer service is excellent and if you call them they really try and help you find exatly what YOU want and don't try and sell you the most expensive, Highly recommended

Just to add that I've got the Redsnapper Monopod and am pretty happy with it. If it's absolutely fully extended there's a bit of give, but sacrifice a cm of each extension and it's solid.

I also really like the mini-ball head you can get with it - so much so that I'm getting one for my tripod too!

(edited to add that I use it with 5d Mark II and 70-200mm and your kit will be lighter than that)

I've got the Manfrotto 680B with the MN234 head, I find it great and very solid.

I have the Redsnapper with Miniball...

love it...

(think its on sale at the moment)

Supports my 450D with the Canon 70-300 which is heavier than your setup.

Check total height as some of them don't extend far enough (I am 6 2)

Cheers

Thank you everyone for your tried and tested choices of monopod's I have looked at and have decided to go for the Redsnapper with Miniball.

Again thank you:thumbs::thumbs::D:thumbs::thumbs:

Just bought Mrs_C a Gitzo one, aluminium with a detachable and replacable hiking foot. The top had a hand cover which you can then remove to show the screw thread and it has a hand strap. REALLY nice bit of kit. Got from Stuart at Digital Depot (he is a member/advertiser on here but this is his site HERE) The model of monopod is not actually shown on his site as it was a special purchase after I saw it at the TP convention but he has several others on there and if you did want the same one he can get it. It is a Gitzo GM1130MT and was about £95
