Hi

new member here and I would like a bit of help with DPP.

Is there a way to get rid of a bit of distortion with DPP, what I need is to correct a bit of barrel distortion, is that possible with DPP or do I need to get something else?

The version I have is 3.8.2

In RAW, Yes, Jpeg no.

You did pull up the F1 Help menu and search for 'distortion' didn't you?

Thanks Mark
Never thought of the Help menu and it seems I will have to use RAW if I need to do adjustments. Is DPP a good choice for a beginner to use or should I get something a bit more easier to use?

I'm open to suggestions.

I'm with Rich. DPP is fairly easy to get to grips with at first, and those Vids should help a fair bit.

Once you understand it, you'll be in a better position to understand which software you want to progress with.

DPP will remove distortion but only for Canon lenses that DPP supports.

I have found it to introduce a slight degree of softness that will need sorting out afterwards.

I use a 17-85 "distortion master" and usually have no need to correct the distortion, but I suppose it depends what you are shooting.

A bigger problem for me with this lens is the chromatic abberation at the edges of the frame.

It'll work perfectly well with 3rd Party lenses, providing that it recognises them.

Thank you all for the replies. I have just started out and have only one lens at the moment to go with my body and that is the 18-55 Kit lens. I plan on getting another although I think I will stick to Canon.

Just have to watch all the tutorials in the above post.

:D Learn something new every day , surprised Canon allowed this TBH.
