Help needed printing a full colour logo onto a black card mount?

Hi guys,

We use photovalue for our presentation mounts. They can foil block a single colour simple logo onto the black mounts. I have been asked by a client to provide mounts with a full colour logo on the mount, rather than putting the logo on the picture.

So here is the question. Does anyone know someone that can put a full colour logo onto a black card mount?

We have tried stickers – they look like someone had dumped a sticker on a mount – not professional.

We have tried a heat press (t-shirt type process) – looked good until it cooled and shrunk leaving a glue mark around the edge.

Any suggestions for suppliers or a process please?

Two printng options spring to mind, it depends on the volume of the order..
  • An ALPS Microdry printer; or
  • Lith printing
If the volume is sufficient and the mount size is standard there are several printers that could lith print and form cut mounts, but it would need a decent order to offset the initial plate and form costs.

The ALPS printers are popular with modellers for decal printing as they're the only system with a white ink - necessary in your case for full-colour on black media. You may need to white print and then overprint in colour to get the right result.

The other option is to go to a more premium process with the stickers - embossed foils, embossing the foil into the mount with a press to leave a relief.
