Hello, yesterday my camera froze whilst at a wedding. I turned the camera off but the red light remained on. I then took the battery out and then put back in. It worked for 10 minutes and then it happened again but this time the image was purple and a message appeared saying something about a fault. I wasn't able to read the message as I was in the middle of group shots and had to turn the camera off and use my second camera. Once I got home and downloaded the images.one of the images was split and half was purple. I have attached. Any ideas what has happened.

That looks like the shutters broke to me . Not a self fix problem

I woke up this morning and spent 10 minutes just snapping some pictures at home and nothing happened. I don't get it. Worried as the first time the camera froze and the second time it did the weird thing to the picture.

I have had the same thing on an old Canon compact.
Sometimes the thumbnail looks fine, but part of the image is purple or grey, and sometimes the fault is visible on the thumbnail as well.
I have always thought it was a faulty card, so hope that is all it is on yours.

That happened to me occasionally (like a few frames out of well over 100k) on the canon 5DM3. Each time it was a card issue, I recall CF card being culprit and copy on the other card was fine.

Well when I got home I downloaded all the images onto my computer fine. I think I had 600 images on that card. Can it still be the card even though everything else came out fine and downloaded the images ok onto the computer?

I have also had this happen a few years ago and the CF card was the issue at the time. Some of the images were corrupted when checking the card on the camera but downloaded ok in the end to the computer. A new CF cured this issue for me.

Never trust that card again.

It's happened to me . Dump the card and use a new one or keep the card and use for for unimportant photography .
