Edit My Images
No
Hello. I have just come back home from a full days shooting and i was looking forward to getting home as i had some real "keepers" amongst them.

When i out the memory card into the card reader and plugged it into the tv to show off my shots it didnt pick the card up. I then reinserted the memory card into my canon 50d and it said the card was not formatted!!!!!

I am obviously gutted about and just hope upon hopes that my images can be saved.

Has anyone got any ideas?

What, Google or Recuva?
Clean the contacts on the card with a cloth, just in case it's nothing more than a poor contact on one or more pins.

Ah, well that explains then why you couldn't research the name mentioned and had to ask what it was. :p

No news yet. My internet decided it was going to be very very slow tonight and i gave up.

On a seperate point is the Lexar (its a Lexar CF card) free recovery just as good as the one mentioned abov?

Recuva has recovered 132 images. However i can not now open the images. I am using a mates computer as it is much quicker than mine.

I had a similar issue during my first wedding. During the break I plugged my SD card into the netbook to do a backup and was just greeted with an Explorer window full of gobbledegook.

I swapped cards straight away and write protected the SD to prevent anything else doing to the card.

I used a variety of tools and in the end this one got the most back:

Where my files were corrupted, it put lines across them which took me ages but I managed to use PS and save most of the photos.

I now only use Sandisk extreme's.

Did you shoot in RAW? if yes your friend might not have the codec's to open the files.

If you are not already doing so, its good practice to format the cards after everytime you've transferred the images onto your computer. Just deleting them is not enough, and will cause card to become corrupt.

There would if only been a few shots taken in RAW but he has editing software that can view RAW files.

I will do that more regular.

It was very strange as i viewed them on the camera then decided to plug my card reader into my tv and then the card became corrupted and could not view my images.

I doubt i will be using that card again and will be buying a new card reader too.

Have you given up now or are you still interested in recovering the photos?

Yes i would like to recover the photos as it was a whole days worth of shooting but i am at a loss as to what to do next

Well, if you're willing, I'd certainly take a look at what the various software I have can try and extract.
Failing that, there's really only the data recovery experts to fall back on, but it won't be a fish supper cost wise. Depends on how valuable they are to you whether that's a non-starter or not.

What card is it - Lexar, Sandisk, Transcend?
