Hi, i am wanting to create a studio at home to shoot images of products - fashion clothing. I bought this from ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....550218&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_3545wt_905 basically three lights. And a background which is muslin cloth.

Problem: with the camera set up to trigger the flash the background is super white which means that the subject is ghost-like and see-through not at all clear.

What can I do? What am I doing wrong?? I want super white background and super crisp subject.

Thanks - please help!

Can you post some of the images up so we'll be able to get an idea of the problem ?

The listing link does not work so I don't know what you have bought. Anyway, not a problem....

What are your camera settings? Are you shooting with manual exposure? What is your shutter speed, aperture and ISO? How far away from the background are your lights? How far from your subject is/are the lights? How bright is the room you are in? How much daylight?

Try manual exposure, 1/200, f/8, 100 ISO and work from there. Post a pic with EXIF and a pic of the whole setup if you can.

Image is a few inches away from the white sheet, and the lights are approx 2 metres away from the subject

500Ws of light per lamp is quite a lot, especially in a small space. Your camera settings will be an important element in this - you still haven't said what they are - but your flash heads should also have controls to reduce the power if you need to.

Please post an unedited image with EXIF intact, and tell us what power setting you have the flash heads at? Are they on full power? Do they need to be?
