Hi all,

I know there are loads of threads about these lenses but I just can't decide on which one I prefer.

It will be going with my D700 so it's a toss up between these two:

or

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nikon-105MM...SHGQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1320169150&sr=8-1

I also noticed this one in the sigma range:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sigma-150m...2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1320169481&sr=1-2

Does anyone know why it is more expensive than the other sigma which has OS on it?

It will be for shooting macro and perhaps some portraits.

Thanks
Clarke

I have a sigma 105 F2.8 Non OS, sharp lens good working distance  its also good for lots of other togging as its a prime lens

I have the Siggy 150mm non OS in Canon fit. I find it to be excellent as a macro / general / manual lens even if it is a little heavy. The HSM is a wonderful thing to have though and enables full time manual adjustment of focus. I'd imagine that the OS is very handy.

Hi Clarkeg,

I think you hit the right Sigma straight off. I went for the 70mm, and though sharp as a razor, it is a bit short on the D700 for skittish bugs. The 150mm will be great.

Good shooting !

Thanks Paul, out of the Nikon or Sigma which in your opinion would be a better lens?

Thanks
Clarke

I've not used the Nikon, but i had a non-OS sigma on a D300 and it was a cracking lens. I've got the siggy 150mm OS on a Canon body ad early impressions are very good, I've had a issue with the OS, but sigma turned it around in 48hrs :).

I have the Nikor 105 using it with a D7000 and the sharpness is amazing, the only problem is it hunts a lot in low light. well worth the cash.

Well I decided to go for the sigma 150 2.8 macro as mpb photographic had a 2nd hand one for £399 so it would have been rude to say no :) Can't wait to get out and play with it.
