Yes
I take my camera out walking and hiking and I'm looking for a good backpack. Currently I use an over the shoulder top loading bag which can just about fit my camera and a lens. Being a woman, I also need to carry my junk around, so end up carrying another small bag for phone/keys etc.

What I want:-
- Waterproof or waterproof cover.
- Easy access. I had a crumpler pretty boy and while it was a great bag, it was a right faff to get the camera in and out of. Putting the bag on the floor to undo it really got on my wick. It basically should be not much more faffy than getting into a toploader.
- enough space for camera + 2 lenses (nothing too big)
- some space for phone/keys/purse and a book (for when I go on a plane)

What I don't mind :-
- Looks. If it looks geeky, I don't mind :p

Sounds like a fastpack 200 or so would do the job for you pretty well. Lots of space for body / lenses and more space above for other bits and pieces.

Easy access to camera from the side so you can take it out while the bag is on one shoulder.

Video here.

EDIT: black & blue version about £34 at Amazon here.

It may be a bit too big or expensive, but I've got the Tamrac Evolution 8 which could easily do the job for you. Holds my 550D plus 3 lenses, has room to spare, quite a bit of space in the top section for miscellaneous items, has a waterproof cover, and room for a laptop or magazines as well. Easy access to all your gear too :)

I've got a Lowpro Primus AW. This has a compartment at the bottom big enough for a camera and two lenses and an upper compartment to carry hiking gear in (lunch, waterproofs etc). Tripod attachment too.

I got mine off ebay some while ago for a very good price.

The pack is rugged well made and very comfortable to carry over long distances. It is also easy to use and access the camera.

after a LOT of looking ive gone for a fastpack 250 , i can get a laptop in it too OR when walking use it for a bladderpack or change of clothes ! its not got a water proof cover BUT you can buy them for next to nothing... its in stock by jessops so go find one and give it a go !

All good suggestions guys, keep them coming ;)

Oh, one other bit of information, I'm 5ft tall, so don't want anything so big that it doesn't fit on my back, or makes me look like I'm a snail carrying my shell around.

(basically, I want the moon on a stick!)

Why not get the Crumpler Pretty Boy in the lovely red colour ;)

i have the Lowepro fastpack 250 and love it. loads of room for kit and the laptop compartment is nice and snug for a MacBook Pro 15"

I went for a Kata 3in1 20 in the end. Thanks for all of your help.

I use a Lowepro Rezo 170 and put it in to a normal rucksack it gives it a little more protection and really doesn't impead access too much, I can also take it out and put it in a shoulder bag. The main reason I do this is that it doesn't look like your carrying expensive camera equipment around with you and I don't have to move all my gear piece by piece from one bag to another.

I got the Lowepro 302aw pro trek green from jessops for £54, not a bad price and been impressed so far

Have a look at the lowepro fastpack 350 , sounds like it pretty much meets what your looking for , i love mine and its comfy enough for a days walking also has waist straps.

I use a lowepro flipside 300. But it doesn't have an in built waterproof cover. Its big brother the 400 does. What i like about this bag is if i do put it down the entry is on the side which goes up against your back so it doesnt get dirty and transfer the dirt to your back.
