Help makng shadows

I have to take some photos of a credit card and i need to create shadows how can i do this and with what tipe of light.. does a spot ligth helps???

DO you want the card to be standing up, and shadow to fall behind to the left or right?

yes it has to be standing up, doesnt madder **** side the shadows falls

If you want the shadow to be large and soft, use a large light source close to the subject.
If you want it small and with sharply defined shadow transfer edges, use a smaller light and move it further away.

Place the light wherever it produces the angle of shadow you want.

Of course it matters. A softbox and an umbrella are large, a spotlight is small.

Of course, if you moved the softbox or umbrella a mile away it would become small (in relative terms).
