Yes
Right, basically just got myself an external speedgun, and its on E-TTL II

It has auto setting with the camera and the manual settings.

The auto setting is flashing and adjusting but making no difference to the pic. i see it lighting the area but nothin on the pic

When I adjust the manual setting to, what i think, is the lowest its going too bright!?

EDIT: its like the shutter is going first then the flash in auto? unless its in manual mode then it works, but really bright.

I can control 1/1 up to 1/16, ISO 25 up to 800, F. 1.4-11 and zoom 24 to 85

whats the lowest and highest i can set?

really confused and instructions were shiz

There could be numerous reasons...

What flash are you using ??

Make, Model ???

its just a jessops one, its supports ETTL with my cam etc but for some reason in manual, it will fire, but not in time with the shutter, it much be slightly after.

It will only be in time with manual settings.

check your camera is not in second curtain sync.

I have a jessops flash and just tried it...

Is the place you are taking photo dark or dim...

Try this:

Set flash to auto (ttl on lcd and ettl light on yellow)
Set camera to manual and set to 1/60 F8.

fire a test shot and see what happens..
Shutter and flash should be same time.

:)
