Hi all,

Total noob here talking. I just got the Elinchrom D-lite 2 set and a canon 400D, and was wondering what do i need to make both lights flash at the same time? (sync?). I think i need some sort of trigger, but just want to make sure as i cant find out right now from the company as its Saturday and closed. What do you recommend me? Also, if you can give me some good tutorials using the D-Lite 2, i would use the DVD but it was missing from my pack, so i have to wait until Monday and ask them to send me one :bang:

Many thanks

Adam

Did you get a sync cable with the kit?

If you did plug it into the camera and the other end into 1 of the D-Lites.

Then make sure the other D-Lite has the optical switch on.

Then fire the test button on the first D-lite and the optical slave of the second D-Lite will fire the flash on itself.

Have a look on youtube, there are loads of lighting tutorials on there that work for any brand of lighting.

Yeah, i did get a sync cable with it, but it does not fit anywhere into my camera...i have the canon 400D, am i blind or do i need an accessorie for it to fit in?

This one?

Thanks

Adam

Synch leads are old technology, and the non-standard Elinchrom fitting is a nightmare anyway - much better to get a radio trigger. Very cheap ones available from Ebay, or the better and more expensive ones include the Elinchrom Skyport, the Bowens Pulsar and the Pocket Wizards, in ascending price/quality order

Ok thanks.

Can you recommend me one for the Canon 400D?

Adam

pbh, I think that you have recieved the wrong accessory kit, The sync lead in the picture wont fit the D-lights which use a 3.5mm mono jack plug I think. That type of screw fitting is for the EL series Lights & older.

HTH Regards Toonie

That's just what I was thinking Toonie. You are right about the jack. It's a 3.5mm jack plug that the d-lights take. The 400d does'nt have a sync socket either. You will need a hotshoe PC sync as mentioned before.
