Hey all,

I haven't been on the site for some time. Yesterday I've sold my xpro 1 to mpb, which means I'm left with no camera :)
So...
Once again I'm asking the members valuable advice on what camera to get now.
My budget is 500 but i might consider going a bit higher if i see something i like a lot.
I'm not buying new, only used.

Criteria for buying a camera:
*Pocketable (xpro 1 was getting in my jacket pocket with the 35mm f2 but it was still big.) I need to be able to carry it with me constantly. There's no point having a camera if i keep it on my desk.
*Zoom lens( i used fixed focal length for years, but now I'm changing my mind about it. Zoom is more versatile for what i need.)
*Image quality. I know that's a though one because pocketable and image quality don't always go together but i really need good quality image in terms of dynamic range. I'm always shooting raw because i like to adjust colour and values after I've taken a picture.

The camera will be used for family pictures, prints will not exceed A4 size and last will take reference pictures for painting and art projects.

Thx again
Marino

Have a look at the Panasonic LX100 or its more expensive big brother the Mk2. It has the same layout as your X-Pro1 shutter exp comp on top aperture on lens ring. It has 24-75 (equiv) zoom that has max aperture at f1.7-f2.8 and a great macro feature. 4/3 sensor is plenty good enough for your use.

Sony RX100 second hand - see which you can get for the budget!

Having tried to live with small sensor compact cameras I decided that the minimum I wanted for image quality is 1" sensor cameras. They can't match the image quality of MFT but can have the advantages of small size and a zoom lens.

I have a Panasonic TZ100 which is a 1" sensor compact with a 25-250mm lens, it'll shoot raw and has all of the usual modes and controls and a test site I looked it up on says it has a DR of 12.5 which is higher than a Canon 5DIII although some larger sensor cameras may well have better low light ability. One thing I like about the TZ100 is that it has a fixed VF in the top left corner whereas the Sony RX100 range have a pop up one.

I think i'm leaning towards sony RX100 and anything with a similar size.
Allthough for that size the sony rx100 seems to be the best.

Panasonic LX100 looks amazing but im worried it's still going to be a bit bigish, looks like the size of a fuji x100 nearly>?
