help! can't upload photos

i just spent an hour shooting images and i went to upload them and it won't work! so frustrating. i connect my camera and it says 'failed to obtain thumbnails from the device. the device is not connected or busy' :S
 
Can you see the camera in my computer? if so, right click and choose explore, then highllight the files and choose "copy" then goto your pictures folder on the pc and right click and choose "paste" If you have a seperate card reader remove the memory card and try it in that.
 
Is this the first time you've tried to upload photos from this camera to your computer?

You may have to install some software that would have been provided with your camera. Alternatively, if you have a card reader, use that rather than the camera and a USB lead.

nope :( nothing comes up as though i have no pictures on my camera.

i've uploaded pictures quite a few times
 
Try opening your photo editing software and try to import the images from the camera. There should be an option to "import" in the boxes that open highlight the camera/memory card and the software should import it. Are the images viewable on the cameras screen?
 
DO NOT FORMAT THE CARD WITHIN THE CAMERA files may be corrupted but you may be able to recover them yet.
 
i just went on my computer and clicked on get pictures from camera and it came up with another error message saying its already in use?

okay i'll try that now. yeah they're viewable on the camera screen.
 
OK so we know that the images are there, so we must look now at your PC. Have you just brought the pc out of sleep mode, sometimes mine wont recognise my cards when I do this. So reboot the PC and try connecting the cam again.
 
You may be better off getting a card reader and importing the images that way. Readers are fairly inexpensive nowadays and provide a more reliable way to get the images onto your computer

defo card reader
its clean and takes other cards
i have Xd and use a card reader...

the trouble i think with off camera loading is you need joe bloggs software which came on the CD

i do as sbowler says..just open my computer and copy from the relative slot on the reader to where-ever
