I have a Nickon D3200, want to transfer pictures to my cp. I plug
it into my cp. camera icon wont pop up. I tried downloading the Nikon Transfer 2, no luck, it was difficult to operate. what is just the easiest way to get them onto my desktop? If I use a card reader, will I be able to edit them? I'm frustrated!!!

Easiest way is to use a card reader. What is a CP? maybe easier to plug into a PC ;). as for editing what about getting an editing suit such as Adobe Elements which I use

CP = computer?

Normally you can either use a card reader or the camera will serve as a card reader. You should be able to see the images on your card and copy them to your computer, either manually or using software to transfer. You may want to choose folder names - I use "yyyy-mm-dd - short description"

Most people use a card reader I think, and yes you can edit them after you copy them to the PC

If I use a card reader to transfer, do I need a program to edit them? If so, what is a free download one and easy to use program, please? Thanks

Yes, you will need an editing program. Try Dark Table. Editing software may have come with the camera - but it will require some investment in time to understand. Look on youtube for lessons.

Any ideas on a very simple editing program to download please to use after I use a card reader to download to my cp.
A CD came with camera, but lost it to transfer them

Free editing software maybe a bit challenging, especially if you are struggling to get the images off the memory card. I have no idea what sort of desktop computer you have, but should it be an Apple computer then you'll have Photos and that should get you going - unsure if Windows has something similar?

As mentioned above, Nikon Studio NX is free, and it handles Nikon files better than anything else I have. It may be a little clunky sometimes compared to the alternatives, but I tolerate it because the colours are much truer to the camera profiles compared particularly to the Adobe products.

The term cp is not used by anyone I know, so is likely to lead to ongoing confusion :)

If your files are jpegs, you van use IrfanView for basic editing, or GIMP for advanced editing.
If they are raw files, you can use Darktable or RawTherapee GIMP with either as a plugin

All above are free.

Probably the best paid for programme is Affinity Photo, it is a one time payment not a subscription, and the two other Affinity programmes integrate seamlessly with it, useful if you want to do any graphic design or publishing. The whole suite is very intuitive to use.

ACDSee Gemstone is also good, but not as complete as Affinity.

I have a Nikon D3200, I lost my CD to upload program to transfer pictures onto my PC, so I bought a card reader to transfer. Now I'm looking for a very simple and user friendly to edit photos. Any ideas. Thanks
