Did a shoot today that I expected to be an interesting location shoot (Town Mayor head and shoulder portrait). I was expecting nice old town hall setting, half panelled chambers, high backed chair and bookcases etc etc... what I got was a sixties Scout hut of a building with nothing at all. So, having now looked at the bank of previous Mayors' photos on the wall it looks like I need a dark blue (mottled) background that I can PP into my plain cream wall shot that I now have.

Has anyone by any chance got a standard BG image like that that can be emailed to me, or know where I can download one FOC? I don't want to re-shoot with a new backdrop that I will have to purchase, and never use again. :(

I will watch in hope that someone can rescue me

Edit:
As for resolution, the image will be printed 10 x 8

Do you mean a mottled studio type background? thats a piece of cake to make.
EDIT. dark blue and what is the other colour? I can make one if it helps.

I presume then that you've gone to bake it :)

Dark blue and a slightly lighter blue, more like it started out life a nice dark blue (almost black) but has been screwed up and washed a few times LOL. If that helps as a description. I'm sure there must be a standard BG somewhere

Heres the preview. (you can change the colour with hue/saturation if you need) and heres the link for the 10x8

Hope El Mayor doesn't read this!

Me too ;)

Edit:
In fact, did I say Mayor... I meant Scout leader :suspect:
(think I got away with that)

Just read this post and would love to know how you make one of these? Is it something that can be done in photoshop?

thanks,

john

John it's really easy to make in photoshop honestly. I have to go out on a job now but I'll post a tutorial on how to do it later.

You are a clever man, would be happy to read the tutorial aswell

Heres how I did it.
Step 1
make a new document A4 RGB white 300 dpi.
2.
select the 2 colours you want on the colour boxes on the left toolbar (say blue and brown).
3
filter render clouds.
4
using the rectangle marquee tool select about a quarter (maybe a bit smaller) of the image.
5
go to edit free transform, and drag out the quarter to fill the full page of A4 and hit return(this makes the clouds pattern bigger) now CTRL+D to deselect.

Now you can stop at this point or go a step further for a hot spot as well.

6
go to filter render lighting effects, where it says spotlight click the drop down options and choose omni, now drag the center point to where you want the center of the hot spot (drag the outer ring to ajust the size) ajust the exposure/ambiance/ intensity sliders to suit, click OK and job done.

Would it be possible to see a before and after of the mayor (scout leader ;)) as I'm intrigued to see how it'll look, I've a couple of photos that I wouldn't mind trying it with.
Thanks!
