Edit......I now have all of this equipment in my possession and am wondering if anyone else has any ideas on what I might ask for the items. The reply from TheBigYin is very helpful but does anyone else have any thoughts on any of the other items.. I would like to move this stuff on as soon as possible as my friend has not been well of late and I think that the pennies would come in useful for him.

Hello folks, I hope that the mods won't mind me posting this item in this section. I originally posted it in the 'Price Checks' section but it has not generated much by way of a response so I thought that it might be worth a shot here. Sincere apologies if I have contavened any ruling.

Here is the original post.

Hi folks, I know that there are some well experienced and helpful people on this forum so I am seeking your assistance to help a good friend of mine. My friend is 88 years old and has decided that he will no longer be participating in photography and would like to see his gear go to a/some good home/s. My friend is an extremely meticulous person and all of the gear is in pristine condition and, most of it is in the original boxes.
He is looking for some sort of guide as to what he might expect to get for the following items please.
Canon EOS 5 (SLR film camera)
Canon 28mm - 105mm 3.5 - 4.5 zoom lens
Canon Speedlite 540EZ Flash Unit with diffusers
Canon Remote Switch 60-T3
Canon Off-Camera Shoe Cord 2 CZ6-2358
Canon Vertical Grip VG10
Manfrotto Tripod #168
Velbon Pan and tilt Head
Billingham Bag (Mustard) This has never left the house.

I was looking at this equipment only yesterday (12/05) and honestly the condition of all of it is as if it was purchased at 9am that morning.

Many thanks in anticipation of any guidance/advice that may be forthcoming.

In fairness Geoff - all I did was to look up the items on ebay, selecting "finished auctions only", and establishing a range of prices. Selling the kit individually will probably be the best way to raise money from the kit - if you were to take it to a camera shop that does buy s/h kit, you'd be lucky to raise 1/3 of the values I stated. Of course - there's always the possibility of listing it on the classifieds section here as well - but obviously, you'd really need to do a little more research on the kit in terms of prices etc. in order to produce a classifieds compliant listing ;)

Try looking at a website like ffordes as they may be selling similar kit, also ebay of course.

Billingham bags are very well sought after 2nd hand and fetch good prices depending on the model.

Check the model of the Manfrotto too - 168 comes up as a tripod head.

Agreed on the bag. I paid £70 for a second-hand Billingham from Ffordes earlier this year and it's big enough for a couple of bodies and three or four lenses. I thought then that I'd got a bargain, particularly as today I saw another one in Jessops that was about half the size and was £180!
