Help! 580exII and 430ex

Help!

I'm trying to setup these two flashes but havent a clue what I'm doing. I'd read the manual but havent seen it since the Mrs tidied up

What I'm doing, is I have the 580ex mounted on the 1d. I then want the 580 to control the 430, obviously the 430 is off camera. How do I do it? I've switched 430 into slave mode and changed the channels around but it just isnt going off...

Any ideas?

Errrrm, nope! D'oh! How do I do that? I see a switch for it on the 430, but not on the 580....

You have to go through the menu system

Press the zoom button for 2 seconds until the display blinks, turn the dial until master is shown, press the centre button, that should do it

As per others comments really. Just follow them...

Don't forget using the 580 as a master you can control the lighting ration between the 2 flash units.

It's not very clear in the manual, but the trick is to set the 430 to slave B channel 1 with the 580 as master. Then follow the set up in the manual, without turning off the 580!
