This is me:

Currently on nightshift on North Sea Oil Platform. Live in sunny Spain wiv my kidz. Recently bought Nikon D60 as first 'proper' camera (now feel inadequate talking to my colleagues who have all singing/dancing equipment). Looking forward to getting into it once I understand the camera/photography/photoshop etc. Would like to sell to stock but obviously need to get profficient first. Live on well known sports complex so thinking this could be my 'niche' so to speak.
Must go and trawl through the forums on here now; looks like there is a lot of useful stuff for beginners.

Hi Steve and welcome to the forums, I wouldn't worry about your mates 'all singing and dancing' gear, it's not what ye got it's what ye do with it after all.

Cheerz mate, you're right. Back in Spain at the end of the week so will make a start now I've done all the reading and hopefully post some pics for some comment soon. Do many members sell on stock photography sites? Just wondering as I've looked at some of the galleries and there are some classy photos.

Cheerz, I guess you're in the Gulf waters looking at your sig...wish I was there. I'm off on Weds after a three weeker so same thing, into Aberdeen for a few, then a few more at the airport...and so on..

I'll guarantee the North Sea is no pleasure, especially now we're comming into winter, stay with the sun...laid up even better. I spent six months at sea in the Gulf off Oman 20 yrs ago, some spectacular sunsets/rises and turtles (big buggers as I remember!).

Thanks to all for your welcomes, only a couple of days and I'll be trying out the camera....watch this space
