Hi,

Moved to the west coast of Ireland from the uk about 20 years ago ( Co. Mayo ) Country side and coast line breath taking.

I DO HOWEVER HAVE A CONFESSION

I bought a Nikon D40x with the standard 18-55mm lens a few years ago and have never gone beyond AUTO and what's even more awful I purchased ( with the best intensions I might add ) A Nikon DX VR 55-200mm lens and a Tamron SP 10-24mm lens, Manfrotto 190XB tripod with ball grip I NOW BEG FORGIVENESS they have never been used.

OMG now on top of this confession I purchased a couple of days ago a new D5300 ( body only ) going to dust off the lenses and tripod and ask you guys A LOT OF QUESTIONS.

I do intend to use my location for taking photos beyond the auto setting and learn how to video shoot with the D5300.

I do however have an excuse for the above crimes, but have decided not to divulged them as most people do not want to hear excuses.

Please form an orderly queue for B***ickings and also feel free to add advise as it will be greatly appreciated.

Really looking forward to contributing and being part of your community.............................. I really do need help.

Leadbelly out.

Hi and as above a warm welcome to TP.
Hope you enjoy yourself here :)

Hi Leadbelly

A beautiful coastline and Westport is a regular port of call for me.

Am just about to start a 6 montg (minimum) coastal trip to Ireland this week. Starting from Rosslare and (eventually) returning there.

It is a good time for you to rekindle your photography bug as you will have some gorgeous light till October with the sunset bug in you perhaps!

If you find yourself on a quiet Sligo beach in September and you spot a guy sitting beside a tripo, not doing much, I could be me. The crazy tea cosy peaked hat would be a giveaway!

Enjoy the forum

Steve

Hi Steve,

LOVE THE HANDLE

Wow sounds like someone knows how to enjoy life, how many wheels, legs or zimmer frames are you using.

Can see the top third of Croagh Patrick from my living room, some mornings as the sun rises the pathway is a clear as crystal and the sunsets are wasted on an amateur like me who has not got beyond shooting auto ( although trying to address that ).

My beach would be at Lackan bay near Killala soft sand dunes behind you, white horses crashing to the right, crisp inlet to the left looking ahead straight out to see next stop America AND ME WITH TWO TRIPODS one with my camera to my left and the other to my right with two beach casting rods, some sticks and matches to light a beach fire on the off chance that I catch my supper;)
