Yes
well after some time playing around with compact cameras...

then saving up for a D90 only to end up spending my camera budget on a new washing machine as the old one decided christmas would be a good time to pack up! (one of them LG steam things)

I decided I couldn't put up with not having an SLR so I was taken by the urge to buy an old Zenit EM (olympic model, I think its from around 79?) from the little independent camera shop in town, it came with a Helio 44m lens and I've since picked up a Hanimex 80-200 to add a bit of versatility.

well after a while puzzling over the many dials I have eventually got my head around how to drive the thing and my first two rolls of film (1x colour, fujifilm superia 200 and 1x B&W Ilford 400) are now at the developers and I'm pretty sure will all come back ether vastly under exposed of extremely over exposed, still its exciting and I'm looking forward to seeing them regardless, the very decent gent who's shop it is has even offered to go over the negs with me to let me know what went wrong and why (which may take a little longer than he probably expects! )

The B&W roll I've used today should contain some more promising shots and the colour one that I'm about halfway through should be good too!

I figure that learning to take pictures with what seems to be the AK47 of the SLR world should give me a better understanding of photography and how to get the best out of a camera but at the moment I'm a little too smitten by its absence of batteries and general all around "back to basics" feel.

Anyone else use one? or similar? any tips or pointers would be most welcome!!

all the best

A
