Hi there folks,
After about 10 years out of photography (and i wasn't very good then) i have decided i need to get back into it. i have a limited budget of about £1000 to kit myself out and am confused by all the new kit out there. does any one have any first hand experience of the canon 50d or the nikon d90 as i have shortlisted it to either of these , and also what lens would anyone recommend as i plan on doing landscapes but would like to get into wildlife photography. Any help would be really appreciated as my partner assures me she doesn't know or care  oh and i no longer have any of my old canon lenses tucked away so i need a complete re kit out and i can add more lenses as funds allow.
Thanks Dexter

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I used to use a 50D and found it a great body. Nice and solid and superb image quality. The near 7 fps is great for wildlife, sport and motorsport, although I did find it a bit poor with noise when increasing the ISO beyond 400.
With regards picking a lens, then you're in a whole world of decisions! For £1000 I would certainly look at buying second hand kit. A 50D will set you back around £500 which will give you enough for 1 maybe 2 half decent second hand lenses.

Good luck...

Thanks for that, i was looking at maybe secondhand lenses however i was considering a new body as i like the idea of maybe getting the extended warranty as i know in jessops they cover for accidental damage aswell.

If you can afford a new body then at least you know where it's been. For second hand gear I've used this site a few times with no problems along with Ephotozine and of course the dreaded Ebay.

sound advice, thanks. had a look around and theres a lot of choice. time to do my homework i think and decide on suitable lenses.
