Well, having registered I'd better say hello!
I'm Derik and I live in south-west London. I used to be an avid photographer but as with so many things it fell by the wayside as career, family and the need to pay the mortgage took precedence. I never lost interest; just sort of got out of the habit.
I want to get back into making pictures. I suppose I'll have to get into digital, although a couple of friends, knowing my love of monochrome, tell me that getting a good black and white picture from the digital process is all but impossible. I'd be very happy to use my old Rolleiflex 2.8f but getting film for it is turning out to be a bit of a struggle. I went into a branch of Jessops and couldn't find a staff member who even knew what 120 roll film looks like.
So for a while at least I'll be eavesdropping on your conversations without contributing anything in the way of images, but I'll probably ask for advice from time to time. I know that with digital at least I've got a steep learning curve to climb, and any help in this direction will be very gratefully received!
