Hello all. Looking forward to participating here.
I've been involved in photography for most of my life, since before high school years. Back then did my own 35mm film (color and B&W) and Super 8 (B&W) developing. Like everything my hobbies go in cycles and photography now coming back into the forefront as I near retirement.
I enjoy more old-school processes. My digital camera is a Fuji X-E1 as I like its traditional layout and I keep it mostly in manual focus mode. I also use older Nikon manual lenses with it as I prefer they "look" they render better and very much prefer handling the focusing myself, plus manual lenses are quite nice to use on the Fuji X-E1 as you can set a fixed shutter and aperture and the camera will vary the ISO for proper exposure. I tend to focus more of my shooting on nature, landscapes, animals, and do not do a lot of post processing as to my eye this makes the image less real looking. While I have not done film in a while, am also getting back into it with my old Nikon equipment (FM and FE), so am considering getting a negative scanner. Also hope to add a larger format film camera in the coming months as well, primarily for landscape -- most likely an old Bronica or Mamiya 120/220 SLR or whatever I can get at a reasonable price off Ebay.
For the past many years I have been very active in the amateur astronomy community, and have an equipment book published in that realm. Have been poking around for photography boards that are like the astronomy boards I use (cloudynights, stargazerslounge, etc) where lots of dynamic discussions go on and found you guys. Seems to be a very active, large, and dynamic community! Anyway, hello all
