I am a retired geologist with a general interest in photography since 1965 - not quite the pinhole era but I've seen a few changes since then, most recently the DSLR which I'm still getting to grips with. I got tired of lugging around my old SLR and for some years just used a digital compact - the added convenience was amazing. Notwithstanding, I now have a DSLR and I expect more equipment will be on the way.

Aside from day-to-day and landscape, I have been interested in underwater photography since 1977 and more recently astrophotography - which though very exciting is a real challenge; if you're interested here's my website . In fact I was recommended to this site from Stargazers Lounge, who say you're a helpful and friendly lot - looking forwards to getting to know you.
