Hi. I'm from Shropshire, living in the wilds (well, near farms and woods anyway!).

Had an amateur interest in 35mm SLR for years, now about to buy a DSLR for the first time.

I'm particularly interested in reportage (used to do a lot of festival and similar stuff), some wildlife and in non-portait people.

My wife is showing interest beyond the P&S for the first time with the possible DSLR - but her biological father was an award winning South African photographer so it is in her blood. Haha.

Hi Ian,
and welcome, my wife and I have spent many happy weeks in a friends cottage in Shropshire and we love the county, (Hales Owen was actually in Shropshire until 1846 I think it was, but I'm sure you knew that) Another of our friends is the local vicar at Clun. Anyway, I know you haven't joined TP to talk about that, I can thoroughly recommend the forums and apart from one, I have never had anything but good advice from here and everyone is very friendly ( and knowledgeable) you can't ask the wrong thing.
