Hello everyone,

My names Joshua and I'm here to gain advice, improve as a photographer/photo editor and possible share some snaps with you :).

I'm currently using a Panasonic TZ5, nothing special I do admit but I feel it's a good point and shoot camera and it's enough for me at the moment. I am however looking to purchase a digital SLR in the near future and just keep my Panasonic for every day use and holidays ect.

I am an eBay seller specializing in men’s clothing, footwear and accessories and spend most of the day photographing countless items many times over and then editing the photos using adobe Photoshop elements 4.0 which takes way too much time and is really quite repetitive and boring.

I’ve been looking to improve my photographic skills and thought a forum would be the best way to go about it as I'm tired of reading endless web pages full or irrelevant information and wondering why on earth did I waste the last hour learning nothing!!

Here’s some of my current work:

I’ve decided that I need to purchase a mannequin to better present my items and to give all of my photos a continuous professional look, so I’m looking for tips on what sort to purchase and what background to go with, but I’ll ask all about that in another thread.

I look forward to your imput :).

Thanks in advance,
Joshua.

Welcome to the forum, where abouts in Herefordshire you from?

Hello there!

Like the photos of jeans - I'd think they were all about worn out apart from the tags on them.

Good luck with the mannequin - keep thinking of getting one myself as I've been doing a project with gas masks - and ended up being in front of the camera with a remote shutter release. I find that I take up no extra room in the house and am pretty much available whenever I need me! But really hard to check the pose before taking the photo!

Hello Jay - I am new too and also from Herefordshire. I think this forum is definitely going to be a good learning place!

Well I've finally got a mannequin and things are slowly getting there, as you can see from this photo:

Not keen on the whole modeling for my own photos, I think a mannequin looks a more professional. It only cost me £120 including delivery, that's £100 cheaper than most places so I'm very happy with it.

Although it does seem quite alot of effort for dressing and undressing it though...
