Hi I am new to this group, I am from Hampshire (UK) near Southampton. I am not sure if I am interested in photography, which may sound strange seeing as I joined this group, by that I mean that photography itself isn't really my main interest, but I enjoy taking photos of my favorite subjects, which include wildlife (in any form) aviation, minerals and astronomy.
I only got my first DSLR camera back in April this year, until then I have been using Canon Powershot series compact cameras, I still make sure I have my G9 handy as sometimes it's nice to have something you can carry around easily.
I have just got myself what I hope is a decent tripod (as the one that came with the camera was pathetic) and a gimbal head. I have not yet had chance to use them as the weather has been rather miserable, I want some nice light! but it will be interesting to see if it makes an improvement,to my photo's. I know it will make things a bit more comfortable for me, as holding the camera and lens for extended periods can become a bit annoying! but then again it's extra weight to carry around so I have yet to see if the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
