I'm Mike, hailing from the Wigan area but currently living in Sofia.
My father has been trying to get me into photography as a hobby for years, and I've always resisted with the excuse being time (I was under no illusions of the time investment required to get to grips with composing images, understanding the hardware and knowing the software). For reasons I can't explain, the last few weeks I've started reading up on the concepts, then on the equipment.. then to inevitably pricing things up...
About me, earlier this year I moved to Bulgaria for work. It certainly has lots of interesting subjects, and I think I'd like to start with a kit that can happily do people, street photography and landscapes. My weakness is, I will invariably
buy something that is far more capable than I am - I take this as a given.
I'm thinking a camera body and two lenses. My first thought was the XT-1 with the 18-55, and a 55-200. The only thing that has stopped me buying this at this point, is that I don't know the technology cycles well, so I can see that
it was released in 2014, and the price has not wavered much. Would I be better served going for a more recent camera, or does the cycle move slowly, and I shouldn't worry, nor wait for the next latest greatest thing to hit the market?
