Hello.

First of all I would just like to say, excellent forum. It's one best i've seen for help and advice!

I recently recieved a Canon 60D with Canon 18-200mm lens for my 30th from the other half prior to heading to WHistler for a snowbaording trip. The Canon was excellent for the first 10 days of the trip until it was stolen from the hotel room safe along with an ipad and GoPro and two 32GB SD cards filled with pics(which weren't in the cameras either!) :'(

Thankfully my house insurance saved the day and i''m now on my second 60D in three months.

So far I've taken pics of garden birds and the Granite City Rally(round 3 of the scottish rally Championship). I'll post some up when i get home for you guys to cast your eye over them.

I'm planning on getting a Canon 100-400 lens for the rallies and airshows.

Cheers
Barry

Hello Barry - a reply also from Aberdeenshire!;)

Sorry to hear about your hotel room experience but good news on the insurance. I have two hobbies - birds and rallying - though never usually at the same time! The 100-400 is a perfectly good lens to start with....:naughty: It has a permanent home on my wife's camera now as I've moved-on a bit with lenses. Just be aware that once the (bird) bug bites, it gets more complicated and expensive.:'(

I was doing management-car duties on the Granite a few weeks ago for the opening car so didn't get the chance to photograph much, but I took the 70-200 up at the end of SS5 for this one:

Haha i can't see me going any more expensive than the 100-400 at the minute....well that's the plan anyway. Photography is more of a hobby that's evolved from other hobbies(snowboarding, cars & bikes).

It was the first rally for a while that everyone i know actually made it to the stage i was at although a couple of them caught me on the hop while moving through the stage. I was at SS4 between 14 & 16.

That's a good pic :-)

Yeah! I said that too......

I was parked on the (side) road next to the old cafe at the top of the hill. I wonder if you were one of the many people who stopped to ask me where the end of the stage was, just up from the spectator parking?

Hi Barry

Welcome to TP from down the road.

I can see this being yet another expensive hobby, oh the missus will be pleased:lol:

Not guilty, i got a sneaky peak of the stage notes so I knew where i was heading plus I live in Cammachmore so i know the area and woods pretty well. ;)

I'm closer to Fetteresso and could have walked to SS2. :D

Cool, it's nice around there :-)

Hi dinners, missed your post thanks for the welcome :-)
