Hello everybody my name is Dave and have been using a digital camera for a while for my buisiness but want to upgrade to a better camera hope you can help me,

I am looking to get a canon but there are so many models what would be the best option between the 350d 400d 20d or any other model any help much appreciated,

Also i have a cannon eos 50e from the days of film could i use the lens from this which is 28mm - 80mm with a digital camera

Welcome Dave,

350d/400d is an ideal entry into the world of dslr photography and both are capable performers. Advantages of 400d over 350d are it has a larger lcd screen on the back and has a slightly higher megapixel at 10 instead of the 350ds 8.

You can use EF lenses with the current Canon DSLRs

Welcome to the forums Dave - as dod says if you gives us an idea of budget we can suggest the best for that price. But the scale kinda of goes: 350D-400D-20D-30D-40D-5D-1D(talking pro expensive stuff here)

One thing you may find using that lens on anything below the 5D is that the focal distance covered by your lens might change, as the lower models dont have a "full frame sensor" but a cropped sensor. I am not sure how it effects older EF lenses, but you could find your lens effectively coming a 44-128 (if my maths are correct - which they probably arent)

Thankyou for your responces my budget i guess is around the £300 mark i like the look of the 20d i need the camera to take pictures mostly of Koi and some scenery shots for my buisiness,
