I am about to purchase my first dslr and thought this looks a great place to get some advice cause Im a total noob!

Im sure I can learn alot from this forum, I cant wait to get started!

Hi Richard and welcome to TP.

Probably find that whatever else you will be told on here about what to get (I'd say Nikon, but then then I would, wouldn't I) try to make a point of going to a shop and seeing how all the various possibilities feel in your hand. Makes a big difference when you are comfortable with the feel of a camera.

Hi Rich, as said get some cameras in the hand if poss,to get the feel.
The comfy feel of you're choice will mean a lot.

But also as said, Nikon's are best............
