Hi everyone, been a while since I'd posted on here, hope everyone is well!
I'd joined this forum a year or two ago when I had my Canon 300D, since then I had unfortunately lost interest, got another one with more lenses, then it all happened over again..
This time I'm determined to make it work as I always regret it once it goes despite it gathering dust, this time I've now bought a Sony Alpha A290, had it a couple of months now and snapping some shots here & there.
Equipment;
Sony A290
Minolta 35-70mm with Bearcan
Minolta 35-105mm
Sony 50mm lens
Remote control
4GB SD-HC Memory card
Now, the question is, the pictures I'll ideally be taking will be of my lovely daughter growing up, a friend of mine does 'promo shoots' now and again (DJ) so we've done some of those before, always helped by Photoshop in places though, the odd-motorsport day and one that I wouldn't mind trying (without looking like a **** taking rubbish pictures) would be in a nightclub (of and around while my friend DJ's) ... There are always the 'I AM VIP' guys there taking shots which look pretty good & I wouldn't mind learning more into it.
I asked someone once and I believe they called it 'metering' where it would be focused on the guy yet all around is blurred and 'twisted' if anyone grasps that lol.
I really would like the 'stock' 18-55 lens as I don't feel like I'm close enough to the subject half the time (especially with the daughter being crazy as per) however could anyone help me understand and/or learn any settings with what I have?
I've just ordered a 'clip on diffuser' for the on-board flash at the moment as I'll have to wait until payday for a investment in a decent flash, the one I had on the Canon was rather annoying, however the pictures where nice. (annoying thing was after every 'flash' it would then sound like its charging back up, which took it's time - missing shots)
Any advice, banter or moving it to the right section is appreciated.
