I've been shooting tethered more and more lately. This was only ever going to lead to grief eventually, so rather than my usual perch-it-on-a-chair-and-gaffer-tape-it-down method, I went looking for a better solution. I've got a decent set of Gitzo sticks, but I didn't fancy spending hundreds of pounds on the rest of the bits I needed to build something like McNally's tripod rig, so I got to thinking...

Rather than buying a Manfrotto double head support arm, Calumet do a copy for half the price (I think I might have snagged the last one in stock for a while though - sorry...) It's not completely necessary as I hate shooting on a tripod, but at the very least, it's a safe place to put my camera down between shots whilst I b****r about with the lights.

The bit I'm really pleased with, though - rather than spending a hundred quid on a Gitzo laptop platform I found this on eBay:

Fifteen quid! It arrived today and although I've not tried it out in anger yet, it's solid as a rock and fits my MBP 15" with room to spare for USB cables, power leads and such. There's even a nice strong cordura and velcro strap that hold my Mac down to the base. Total bargain and I'm dead chuffed. I'll update this thread once I've tried it all out on a shoot.

Thanks for that. just what I'm looking for. Ta!
