Hdr?????

I'm new around here, and keep seeing people pic's with HDR editing. Now i'm gonna sound dumb, but what is HDR, and how do you go about creating the effect. It seems to give amazing results in photo's. BTW i am using Photoshop Elements 5.0, thanks guys

HDR is basically when you combine 3 photos together, one normally exposed, one underexposed and one overexposed. Once combined the photo will have different aspects of each original photo in it, for example have a really dark sky but with a well lit building.
