I see Aurora is finally coming to PC.

Anyone (unbiased) have experience of the Mac original - or even the new version - against the likes of Photomatix Pro and Google/Nik EFX Pro 2?

Aurora is getting loads of hype, but how much better can it really be? It's working with the same RAW data/dynamics as the others, after all.

Also, suspicious of 'name' photographers/trainers and many photography sites covering it, as they're SELLING it and taking a cut via affiliate links.

After trialling the Macphun Luminar beta program and reporting back bugs via Facebook and the head honcho of Luminar being very rude in his replies to my observations I'll never purchase a product from them, however good it appears.

Hmmm... that's a shame.

Despite myself, I've ordered this anyway. Will report back on whether it's worth all the (marketing) hype sometime next week.

I use the stand alone version of EasyHdr Pro mostly for adjusting single photos where it can act as an adjustable layer.

Of course tha main problem with all the HDR programs is noise and really showing up any "dust bunnies" on your sensor.

I knew there had to be a downside to it and you've enlightened me to what it is,seemed too good to be true to get the Dr without drawbacks, inotice the sky doesn't always look right with splashes of blue in the whites, would this be an artifact of HDR? Noticed especially on my old x100 c

HDR does emphasize a lot of things depending on your settings, but difficult to say without seeing some samples.

When I use EasyHDR Pro I usually put the pics through NeatImage noise reduction program to help with the noise problem.

Been pretty impressed with Aurora so far, although I've only used presets. Will post some examples over next few days.

Anything that involves tonemapping is waste of time.

Lightroom CC has very reasonable approach. It almost equates to manual blending if source files are done carefully with no change on tripod. It works because it doesn't use tonemapping. But then it gets it all very wrong if there is any change in the scene like moving leaves or water.

Mind you there have been THREE releases now - in less than a week.
